At 8:10 a.m. I discovered Gallery 5’s label for Object 1938.4 — our 1540s munition armor — had migrated two cases over, an overnight shift that magically turned a pikeman into a courtier. Any other curators have a favorite wandering label tale, and how do you gently restore order while preaching provenance without scaring the school groups?
We put a tiny UV dot at the correct spot and use a pocket blacklight on morning rounds — quietly flags any ‘wandering’ without the provenance sermon, a homing beacon for labels. Do you let floor staff re-seat them on sight or wait for @Collections to do it?
@Dina love the UV dot; we went low-tech-meets-nerdy with keyed magnet plates behind each mount so labels only ‘snap’ to their own spot, plus a tiny corner notch visitors never notice for a quick visual check.
